We Need Your Help!
Did you know that The Homer Society of Natural History, Inc. is embarking on a vigorous campaign to invest in building upgrades to make the Pratt Museum safe, functional, and sustainable?
The Roof System Replacement Project encompasses the removal and replacement of the 9,143 square-foot roof atop the facility that the Museum occupies. Over the years, the facility has undergone multiple renovations, none of which have addressed the compromised roof system. Over time, the roof has deteriorated to the extreme that visitors have to traverse buckets in every gallery, and at times water splashes on the objects and artifacts. Leaks also occur consistently over the elevator which impacts use, and in office spaces where computers and technology are located. Staff must scale the roof during the winter to shovel after every significant snowfall.
Here’s where you come in. Show your support for the Pratt Museum Roof System Replacement Project by writing a letter to Senator Lisa Murkowski endorsing our request for inclusion in the Congressionally Directed Spending Requests. We have included some tips below that may be helpful when preparing your letter of support. You may use the provided letter template (included below) or draft your own. Please contact us at communications@prattmuseum.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Please submit completed letters by Thursday, March 21st at 6pm to Pratt Museum Executive Director Patricia Relay at director@prattmuseum.org.
