Have you ever wondered what shaped the mountains surrounding Homer? Or what secrets may lie in the stones and rocks that cover our beaches and trails? During this two-day workshop, we’ll learn about the Rock Cycle using the Museum’s collections, and then take our knowledge on the go during a morning field hike!
Head out into the field with Dr. Taz Tally (AKA Doc Roc) to explore the geology of Kachemak Bay and the Southern Kenai Peninsula and discover igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks you have learned to identify earlier in the week using the rock collections from Kachemak Bay Campus and the Pratt Museum.
Saturday, September 12, 10am-3pm, and Sunday, September 13, 8:30am-2pm. $69 per person, enrollment is limited. Call 235-7743 to register, or visit kbcnoncredit.asapconnected.com.
