Plus\, experience an “Object at Hand” demonstration\, showcasing unique items from our permanent collection! \nThis will be the last Second Saturday until the Fall\, but stay tuned for family-friendly events with reduced/free admission this spring & summer. \nThe Museum is open from 11am – 4pm. Object at Hand demonstration will be from 12-2pm. \nFree admission for all. Includes all galleries.

DESCRIPTION:Botany for Beginners: Introduction to Botanical Terms & Local Plant Families \npresented by Yarrow Hinnant\, Curator of Botanical Exhibits \nSaturday\, April 18 | 10am – noon \nRegistration Fee: $20 \nMember registration Fee: $15 \nPay it forward Fee: $40 \nLearn how to confidently identify ten local plant families\, opening up the ability to assess any plant you see within this framework! \nParticipants will be introduced to some of the most common and interesting local plant families\, as well as some basic botanical terms. The goal of this lab is to give participants the keys to a deeper understanding of the plant world without getting overwhelmed by the details. We will take a short walk outside to look at some winter identification tricks\, and pull specimens from the Pratt Museum herbarium to hone our new skills! \nCome prepared to spend 15-20 minutes outside and bring any plant ID questions you may have.
