DESCRIPTION:First Friday Art Gathering\nA Celebration of “Octopus” \nFriday\, September 4 | Pratt Museum \n4 – 6pm | Artist Talk 5pm \nJoin us to celebrate the installation of “Octopus”\, a white-on-white oil painting by Edward Whetstone Hutchinson\, in the Pratt Museum Marine Gallery. Hutchinson is known for his distinctive white on white oil paintings as well as his role as an active supporter of and contributor to the cultural life of the Homer community and the Pratt Museum. \nLive music will be provided by Bill white\, classical guitarist\, and refreshments will include appetizers from Vida’s Thai Restaurant. \nA brief artist talk will begin at 5pm.

We will create descriptive illustrations of local mushrooms and other fungi in mixed media working with live specimens. All supplies will be provided\, or feel free to bring your own. No experience or artistic talent required! Online registration required. \nAbout the Artist: Living in Homer\, Alaska\, Kim McNett’s award-winning art promotes the education and conservation of wild nature. She especially loves teaching beginners and children and has worked as a teaching artist throughout the state of Alaska for 15 years.
