“Two for the Trails” Volunteer Trail Work Day

Two for the Trails Volunteer Trail Workday
Tuesday, August 4 & Wednesday, August 5 | 10am – 4pm
Calling all volunteers! Join us at the Pratt on Tuesday and Wednesday to help refresh our accessible trail loop. Curator of Botanical Exhibits, Yarrow Hinnant, will direct the resurfacing project, throwing in some professional trail maintenance tips throughout the day. Volunteers will mainly be helping with transporting and raking gravel along the half-mile loop. Refreshments provided!
Volunteer shifts are from 10am – 1pm and 1pm – 4pm. If you can’t commit to the full shift, that’s fine! We ask that you show up at the beginning of the shift when instructions will be given, then leave early if needed. Please sign up using the form below.
This project wouldn’t be possible without the support of Homer-Kachemak Bay Rotary Club, whose members will be there both days as dedicated trail work volunteers and the generous financial support of Athletic Brewing Co. via their Two for the Trails grant initiative, which funds projects that improve access to outdoor areas.
About Two for the Trails: Two For The Trails donates up to $2MM annually to expand outdoor access via trails and parks while improving the environment through sustainable, low-impact practices whenever possible. This includes investing in projects that replace invasive plant species with native ones, prioritizing projects that don’t use fuel-based machinery, avoiding non-biodegradable materials, and protecting endemic animals wherever possible. The program also funds projects like waterway cleanups and disaster debris removal as needed by the community. Our focus is on balancing human use with environmental care, giving priority to projects that are not just sustainable but regenerative—leaving the land better than it was found.
