GRASPING THE NETTLE: A TWO DAY FIBER WORKSHOP
Sunday, July 27 & Monday July, 28 | 3-5:30PM
$80 per person/$70 per Museum Member
Learn ways of working with Nettle as a fiber plant with local multi-media artist and fiber explorer Carla Klinker. Nettle has been used worldwide for generations as a fiber source for textiles. In this two-part class, learn about its history and then get your hands on the raw material. Participants will harvest and process the plant to create cordage to take home.
Carla will introduce a variety of ways of working with nettle fiber, including harvesting times and techniques, making cordage, and integrating nettle thread into practical and artistic projects. Explore the history and practice of this ancient craft and deepen your connection with the plants in your own backyard.
