NATIONAL FOSSIL & BONE DAY LECTURE

Thursday, October 16th | 5 to 6pm

Free, Suggested Donation of $5

Come celebrate National Fossil and Bone Day at the Pratt! Learn about coal seams, bones, and megafauna fossils in Homer with Bone Man Lee Post and author, citizen scientist, and Kachemak Bay adventurer Janet Klein.

Lee Post – The Homer One.  A self taught nature nerd who spends a lot of time in rabbit holes looking up things that spark his interest. He is sometimes known as the guy from the Homer Bookstore and others know him as “The Boneman”.  He got his start working with bones at the Pratt Museum in the late 1970’s and never lost interest.

This October he is joining up with Janet Klein, a local historian and writer of all things Kachemak Bay Archaeology. Join us for a fascinating look into some bones and fossils from this area and a story about how the geological story from this area got a surprising revision, thanks to Janet’s interest in megafauna fossils.
