Voices of the Community

Kachemak Bay Audio Stories and Images
The things that give our lives a distinct local flavor are the climate, the resources, the view, and our remoteness. Just about everyone owns rubber boots, a skiff, and a car with character. We wear spikes on our shoes in the winter and long johns in the summer. We eat more ice cream than any people anywhere. Hair is valued more for warmth than looks. And, if you don't smell like fish, you're probably not from around here. All of us are tied to living in this place and sustaining our unique regional lifestyle.
