The 1986 Augustine Ash Fall

The youngest and most active of Cook Inlet volcanoes, Augustine has erupted seven times in the last 200 years. The latest eruption and ash fall sent citizens scurrying for dust masks and nylon stockings to cover car air intakes, and lit street lights at noon.
