The Kenai Peninsula lies between the Border Ranges Fault and the Chugach Fault

Dynamic and active, the south shore of Kachemak Bay is sandwiched between the Border Ranges Fault and the Chugach Fault. The Border Ranges Fault separates the rock around Port Graham and Nanwalek from the bulk of the Kenai Mountains along the south shore.
